The Life House Baby Rescue Home
Africa Revolution in partnership with the Powerhouse Church is establishing a home for abandoned babies in the township of Mamelodi, South Africa.
Mamelodi is a township of the city of Pretoria (capital city of South Africa) that was established during the Apartheid era. The township was established for the black workforce to live in on the outskirts of the city. Today Mamelodi is estimated to have over 2 million residents. With a 40-60% unemployment rate; poverty, desperation and hopelessness have taken hold of many of the residents. This hopelessness has led to all sorts of social ills, abortion being one of them. Abortion on demand is extremely prevalent as well as post birth abandonment. (On every street you can find advertisements for “cheap and painless” abortions for $30 or less)
As Africa Revolution and the Powerhouse church have investigated the orphan crisis in South Africa, we feel that God has called us to be light in this darkness in this specific way. We have begun to establish the Life House Baby Rescue Home as an alternative to abandonment or abortion. We feel we must be preventative as well as responsive in our approach. 
The goal is to offer loving Christ-like care to pregnant women in crisis and to provide a place where babies can be rescued, cared for and nurtured. Social Services is 100% behind us, as is the incredible congregation of the Powerhouse Church. They are committed to these precious young lives and to their community. Pastor Vincent and his wife Gloria have given up their home for this purpose and are serious about their community being healed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This they feel is just another practical opportunity they can practice what they preach by sharing God’s love.
The home will house up to 20 babies. Currently the home is in the final stages of renovation. The cost of which is $3,000. The set up of the home is “Stage 2″, which we estimate will be at least another $3,000 and then of course the ongoing cost of running the home which we estimate to be close to around $1,500/month.
We cannot do this alone and believe that God’s people around the world will step up and come alongside us and care for these orphaned children by giving generously. We are approaching this all in steps of faith knowing that at the right time God will bring along folks like you to play your role in the rescue of His most precious children.
