The word indigenous literally means “generated from within”.  We are excited to be empowering African young people to be equipped to transform their communities. This is a unique opportunity to support Africa’s future leaders who have a willingness and passion to do missions themselves and not just to be the recipients of missions. They have a willingness and passion to be and bring the change in their community. Interns will go through a year of equipping through hands on learning and spiritual formation.  I believe this is an exciting opportunity for those of you whom are not called to “go” yourself but to “send” others by supporting them. Consider supporting an indigenous intern or giving towards the development of this vision.

In our desire to make the skills training courses sustainable, we work hard to set a reasonable price for the students, but at the same time, a price that will provide income as incentive to maintain quality teachers. Even though $50 sounds reasonable to us for a 6-week course, it ends up isolating many that we really want to help. By sponsoring a student you can create an opportunity some may never have.  Give the opportunity of education for only $50!

Help fill empty stomachs by supporting this on going project. $50 provides a lot of food for hungry children. The churches we are serving have shown a beautiful enthusiasm to do as much as they can with the little that they have. Feeding schemes run by volunteers provide much needed meals for children in their communities, helping them go to sleep without an empty stomach. This is a gesture to show the love of God to a hungry community who now sees the church care through action and not just words.

Training people in basic computer skills and word processing will open up avenues for job opportunities in their future. Bikes can be a critical component in advancing development. They are the primary means of transport in most of Sub Saharan Africa. Our partners are using bikes to expand their HIV/AIDS home based care ministry. Those visiting the sick to feed, bathe, encourage and pray with the sick are able to go farther and faster with bikes available to them.

We are also wanting to support youth ministry work with bikes needed in their biking club. A great way to keep kids out of trouble and in good care.

Music and the arts are too often neglected in areas where the demands of poverty overshadow equally important but less urgent needs. AR is seeking to develop a music program to teach children how to play various musical instruments. There are so many children who will never recognize their talents without the opportunity to try them out. As we reach out into the community and very practically show God’s love by feeding orphans, caring for widows or empowering individuals, people want to know why, what motivates us and who sent us? After joyfully answering these questions, explaining the Good News to them and encouraging them to examine God’s Word for themselves we ask if they would like a Bible in their own language.
