Prayer Letter October 2008

Saubona, (Hello in Zulu)

Its been a good couple of weeks; our fifth team member, Will Brown has arrived. we're glad he's
finally here, and our team is complete! Will is going to be teaching classes at the church, on principles of small business practice and entrepreneurship, for the community. The leadership is really excited about this.

We've also sealed a partnership with our local grocery store whom has begun giving food donations for the church's Food Pantry, every Tuesday. This means we've had many more chances to visit people in the community, pray with them, and actually have food to bring them as well, which has been so wonderful and powerful ... one of our team members had an orphan child come up to him the next day and say, "chicken, thank you", while rubbing his tummy. Pics on the food pantry can be seen on our Blog Update- CLICK HERE

Rebecca and Annie were able to be part of a planning team that organized a women's brunch for "Heritage Day," which is a big national holiday here, September 24th. We had around 130 women show up for the brunch Wednesday, the church was packed out! The day was designed to be both an outreach, as well as just a fun way for the women to fellowship and enjoy each other. Everyone came in traditional dress from their own tribes, it was SO beautiful. For SEVEN hours, we sang, prayed, danced, heard teaching on Biblical perspective on culture and
heritage, drank tea, and enjoyed each other. To see amazing pics of the day

Prayer Requests

This month we ask you to pray:

  1. Thank the Lord for our 501(c)(3) status that finally arrived! Yes we are official folks! We had a midnight dance party when we found out. (see pic)

  2. As the "we're-in-Africa-honeymoon" wares off we ask that you pray for our house dynamics. Living in close community is always a challenge and is where God does much of his stretching work. This month we are reading Bonhoeffer's Life Together

  3. A couple of new folks from the U.S. looking to join AR's staff here in South Africa. Pray for the Lord's guidance and wisdom as we figure out if this would be a good fit. More on that as things progress.

We are excited to be partnering with you.
follow close,
allan & annie
