Prayer Letter January 2009

Annie outside Lee-Ann's center for kids

Happy New Year!
We missed you all very much during our hot & sunny Christmas BBQ with Allan's family by the pool.

Before Christmas we traveled to Swaziland, staying with an old seminary friend of Allan's from Moody, Lee Ann. Lee Ann has an adopted Swazi son, Freddy, and runs a center for children in a small town called Bulembu. Bulembu was a mining town, population 10,000. When the mines ran out 10 years ago, the town was abandoned and went up for auction. Some Christian business men bought it, with a vision for turning it into a place for ministry, focused on the orphans of Swaziland (the country with the highest AIDS prevalence rate in the world. 48%) to raise them up to be godly men & women leaders who can pour back into their country. It is a fascinating place, and we loved our time there. Lee Ann and Freddy were great hosts, taking us around the small town, introducing us to people, setting up meetings, and helping us relax with long talks about life in ministry and helping us envision how Africa Revolution intern team could serve there. Read our most recent blog post to find out more about this trip. www.africarevolution.blogspot.com

Prayer Requests

This month we ask you to pray:

1) More interns for next year! Do you know anyone you could challenge to take a year and spend it serving and learning with God's church in Africa? Think about it, pray about it. Our greatest resource is people.
2) The Powerhouse church is fasting for the next 3 weeks, asking for God's vision, presence, and blessing for '09. Pray that God moves and meets with us during this time... Fasting is hard, but we see God answer prayer and respond to our heart cries.
3) We need to raise more support, both for AR, as well as personally. As we consider our return to the States (still 6 months away), we are reminded that our cost of living will increase, and so we are asking the Lord to provide for us continually as we strive to meet our financial budget.

We are thrilled to be partnering with you.
